We are seeking a Water Plant Operations Manager based in Farmington, NM, that will supervise the operation, repair, and maintenance of the Water treatment plant facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses operating problems and directs effective correction procedures.

• Prepare required reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures.

• Analyzes recording instrument readings and laboratory test results and adjusts various plant processes accordingly.

• Inspects plant to determine efficiency of operations, cleanliness, and maintenance activities.

• Supervises and trains employees.

• Determines remedial action in emergencies.

• Prepares work schedules subject to approval of Project Manager

• Prepares reports and maintains records to the approval of Project Manager

• Performs employee evaluations.

• Assists Project Manager in conducting ongoing safety program.

• Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

• Performs other duties as required.

• High school diploma or GED

• New Mexico WS 2 Water Certification at a minimum with the ability to obtain NM WS 4 Certification in 24 months.

• Possess a valid driver’s license.

• Management Experience

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• NM WS4 Water Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science/biology/chemistry/engineering

• Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment processes, principles of supervision and training; principles of budget preparation and expenditure control.

• Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Hach Whims, CMMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems.

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
