We are currently hiring a Region Health and Impact Strategies Director - Issues-based Fundraising in our SouthWest region.

As the director, you will work with market staff to advance strategic region priorities for issues-based fundraising and impact. This position works with the Region Senior Development Consultant – Issues-based Fundraising and region leaders to support issues-based fundraising and mission impact storytelling across all organizational priority issues.

In this role you are responsible for strategic consultation to all markets across the SouthWest region integrating Community Impact and Health Strategies with fundraising opportunities, assisting with proposal buildout as needed, and collaborating with market teams on strategies for building donor engagement through mission storytelling.

This is a remote position with a preference that the candidate lives within the SouthWest region states - Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming.

Responsibilities

  • Market Consultation: Serve as a leader in the region for issues-based fundraising, support mission impact storytelling to advance market fundraising, and counsel Executive Directors and market leaders on integrating community impact opportunities in an issues-based fundraising proposal. Communicate effectively with partners at all levels, providing expertise, coaching, budget recommendations, and strategic guidance. Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration and implementation, ensuring Community Impact and Communications teams are engaged. Influence the utilization of volunteer committee(s) to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of issues-based fundraising efforts. Handle stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts as needed.

  • Fundraising Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert in the region on priority issues, issues-based fundraising assets, and connecting the dots to community impact goals and region priorities. Support the broader integration of issue-based fundraising into campaign development as needed, including close collaboration with the consulting team. Provide consultation and direction in collaboration with Mission Advancement and market leaders for foundation grant and individual gifts as needed.

  • Resource Creation and Management: Supports the integration of organizational priorities and key messages across all market storytelling content and development resources. Leads efforts to build impactful return on investment storytelling assets and facilitate utilization in all markets. Synthesize national Association research, statements and program materials to develop local stories that demonstrate community impact across all marketing and communications efforts. Maintains the integrity of the brand and identity of the Association. Works with market Communications Directors and the consulting team as needed.

  • Systems Management: Develop, implement and supervise organizational systems, workflows, and procedures to ensure the timely delivery of mission storytelling content, sponsorship proposals, and return on investment reporting for all projects. Work with market staff to uncover and document best practices and actively share with region-wide partners. Support markets in crafting impact storytelling resources for return on investment reports, Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team meetings, and other volunteer communication needs.

  • Strategy Development: Identify trends and develop issues-based strategies to achieve fundraising goals for the region and assist with market Evaluation and Planning meetings as needed. Identify gaps and develop internal and external strategies to extend community impact and health strategies efforts in local communities through donor funding. Builds and sustains the American Heart Association brand profile through integrated issues-based materials. Work collaboratively with the larger consulting team.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.

  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • University/College degree or equivalent experience.

  • General knowledge of fundraising processes and/or corporate social impact sponsorship development.

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Experience using Canva.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $56,300 to $75,100. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets.
