JOB SUMMARY:

Performs tooling and mold maintenance repair function in support of production operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

q  Studies specifications, blueprints, tool orders, shop data, and confers with Engineering and Mold Maintenance personnel to solve problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances and service requirements.

q  Applies algebraic and geometric formulas and standard tool engineering data to check and/or modify tool configurations.

q  Perform preventative maintenance on current production tool per PM schedule.

q  Prepare transfer tooling to be able to run production at our facility.

q  Selects standard items such as bushings and tool bits to be used in tool repair.

q  Computes dimensions and determines assembly methods and sequence of operation.

q  Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.

q  Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to machine parts and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.

 q  Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.

 q  Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.  Checks for wear.

 q  Examines standard or previously used dies, tool jigs, and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding constructions and function of part.

 q  Makes trips to production floor to observe mold production operation and to adjust, modify, or clean mold for better operation.

 q  Performs additional duties as assigned.
