Who We Want
Miller Industries is seeking a Forklift Driver/Crane Operator - 1st Shift for our Thompson Road location in Fenton, MI. Our 1st Shift hours are Monday - Monday, 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some overtime hours on Saturday and Sunday as needed for production. This employee will be operating a forklift to move structural steel loads as large 10 feet wide and 2k lbs.
What You Will Be Doing
- Operates forklifts and cranes in accordance with safety guidelines considering other employees, speed, visibility, and load size in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Visually size up 55k+ loads of steel and determine the best way to safely load and unload trucks to maximize space and time.
- Provide production with an adequate supply of required materials, parts, components and packaging.
- Return required materials, parts, components, and packaging to designated storage areas at the completion of each production run.
- Transports finished parts to the next required operation, or the correct storage location.
- Moving or preparing parts for assembly operations.
- Load and unload parts product or material onto fixtures and on and off trucks.
- Assist with quality control, making sure that all finished good materials are in good condition.
- Ensures safety check sheet for equipment is filled out at beginning of shift. Addresses any safety issues with forklift or crane before operation.
- Operation of cranes and other lift equipment within crane load limits.
- Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to ensure crane is properly spotted for safe operation within load limits of crane.

- Direct truck drivers backing vehicles into loading bays and cover, uncover, or secure loads for delivery.
- Report damages and/or items needing repair.
- Performs duties in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Maintains compliance to company policies, work rules, safety & housekeeping standards.
- Maintaining workspace and proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
