    About This Opportunity :

    The Accountant is ultimately responsible for executing the accounting function for numerous agency programs, including expense allocations and budget development.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • The Accountant m onitors income and expenses in compliance with funding source regulations and budgets.

  • Review/prepares accounts payable vouchers and payroll transactions to ensure proper allocation of costs and use of budgets.

  • The Accountant prepares electronic or paper invoices to funding sources including assembling of required backup documentation.

  • Works with wide variety of agency staff (VP of Finance & Operations, planning department, program management) to develop budgets for existing and proposed programs.

  • The Accountant ensures budgets for programs are properly maintained in the accounting software.

  • Provides needed financial information to division management including budget versus actual reports, labor analyses and other analyses.

  • The Accountant interfaces with divisions and funding sources in connection with monitoring visits.

  • Participates in year-end closing process, including interfacing with outside auditing firm and preparation of audit schedules as required.

  • The A ccountant works with the Fiscal department staff to develop and implement department procedures and policies.

  • Performs all other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Supervisor consistent with the overall responsibility of the position and the goals of agency.

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BA or Associates in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field plus 2 years of experience.

  • Extensive spreadsheet skills with ability to use higher level formulas and database functions.

  • Extensive experience with accounting software and the ability to export/transfer data between various types of programs (for example accounting software queries to excel).

  • Demonstrated willingness to work in a government funded non-profit environment a plus.

  • Excellent organizational skills particularly as it pertains to storage of electronic data.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Work Authorization : Must be eligible to work in the United States.
