The Arc of Opportunity Human Resources Director in Fitchburg, Massachusetts
Position Summary: The HR Manager/Director, reporting to the VP of HR, oversees the Recruitment Specialist, Benefits Assistant, and Training Coordinator, ensuring alignment with HR goals. This role involves supervising and coaching staff, maintaining compliance with employment laws, updating HR policies, conducting audits, and managing the performance appraisal process. The HR Manager/Director also prepares HR metrics, promotes continuous learning, supports leadership development, and assists in strategic HR initiatives such as diversity programs and organizational culture development. Additionally, they manage change initiatives, ensuring effective communication and employee engagement across the organization.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (40 hr/week)
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coach the Recruitment Specialist, Benefits Assistant, and Training Coordinator.
Conduct regular team meetings to ensure alignment with HR goals and objectives.
Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and resolution.
Conduct investigations into employee complaints and disciplinary actions as needed and make discipline recommendations to the VP of Human Resources.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
In collaboration with the VP of HR, maintains and update HR policies and procedures to reflect current best practices and legal requirements.
Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to HR policies and standards.
Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring timely and constructive feedback for all employees
Prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
Develop and implement initiatives to promote continuous learning and career advancement.
Support leadership development programs and continuous learning and career advancement efforts in collaboration with the VP of HR.
Assist the VP of HR in implementing strategic HR initiatives such as diversity and inclusion programs and organizational culture development.
Support the organization in managing change initiatives, ensuring effective communication and employee engagement.
Takes other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in human resources management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
