The MAICEI Program Coordinator position, which is part of the Massachusetts Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Initiative (MAICEI) that allows access to higher education for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism, duties include recruitment of program participants, serving as the Liaison to the Department of Higher Education, partnering with school districts and other state agencies, as well as collaborating with faculty at both Fitchburg State University and Fitchburg High School. The Program Coordinator will also provide project support to staff and Fitchburg State University stakeholders. Other duties may include securing campus internships for MAICEI participants; hiring, training and providing ongoing direction to Education Coaches, Peer Mentors; and coordination of all course scheduling and programming for MAICEI students. The Coordinator will participate in departmental initiatives and work closely with Disability Services in conjunction with the Program Director. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provides direction and support to Educational Coaches and Peer Mentors. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with partners to develop procedures for the application process and reviewing of prospective MAICEI students. Coordinates MAICEI activities and develops comprehensive academic support for dual enrollment students, ages 18-21, with intellectual disabilities and autism (ID/A), to promote access to campus life and college coursework in an inclusive setting. Develops program policies and procedures to promote full inclusion in academic and college life for students with ID/A in collaboration with partnerships within the MOA. Collaborate with sending district(s) to balance college coursework with community-based internships and employment. Assess the learning strengths and needs of students; reviews documentation of disability; creates educational accommodation plans; coordinates supports with Assistive Technology Center; consults with educational coaches and high school liaisons regarding instructional needs of students. Coordinates recruitment, admissions, and orientation of incoming students. Provides academic advising and course registration to students; monitors student progress; and maintains student records. Co-facilitates Person-Centered Plans (PCPs) for incoming students with sending districts. Provides career counseling; critiques resumes; and supports development of career portfolios. Collaborates with the payroll and budgeting office to monitor the budget, requests purchase orders and develops annual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with sending districts. Updates marketing materials to promote the MAICEI program, utilizing print, web and video Leads advisory board meetings; coordinates professional development training between partnering districts and Fitchburg State University associated staff, state agencies, and other stakeholders as necessary Represents Fitchburg State University at resource fairs, conferences and statewide meetings related to transition and college opportunities for students with ID/A; facilitates career workshops and access to college career events and develops a network of adult service providers to assist with transitioning. Perform administrative tasks associated with the MAICEI program, to include: collecting and reporting of statistical data and analysis, maintain student files Assist students in the development of self-advocacy skills and the use of support materials, including assistive technology. Accountable for ensuring that affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility. Seek or support grant applications and, upon awarding of such grants, fulfill requirements for such. Play a significant role in grant-funded planning efforts to expand the MAICEI program to individuals over the age of 22.
