Job Title: Distribution Engineer

Job Description

As a Distribution Engineer, you will be responsible for independently developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers. The majority of the work will be overhead. You will review work provided by the client and assess requirements of the scopes. You may be asked to do some field work, but accommodations can be made if you prefer not to. For out of state candidates, field pictures and measurements will be provided for designs. You will be responsible for frequent communication with clients via in-person meetings, email, phone, and Microsoft Teams. You will also be required to perform engineering calculations and provide a final electrical design package. You will also provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met. This role will allow you to gain experience in coordinating conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing large design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements, and ROW applications.

Hard Skills

  • Design Experience - Open Utilities, AutoCAD, Bentley, Microstation

  • 6+ months of power distribution engineering or design experience

  • 6+ months experience doing design packages or Bill of Materials or BOM or electrical packages or electrical construction packages

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations

  • Ability to develop and provide final electrical design package

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Willingness to learn and adapt

  • Problem-solving skills

Work Site

This is a fully remote position.

Work Environment

This role can be performed 100% remotely in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and West Pennsylvania. Individuals out of state will be asked to spend a week or two when starting in Michigan to meet the team and get trained. All expenses will be covered for this initial training period.
