MTA - Flint Network Administrator in Flint, Michigan

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

The Network Administrator role provides technical and administrative support for all local area networks, wide area networks, wireless networking environments, and all connected devices The position is responsible for maintaining complete knowledge of existing hardware and software used to maximize the efficiency of the MTA network landscape users' utilization and provides detailed reporting evaluating network information and usage on a periodic basis.

SUPERVISION BY: MANAGER OF TECHNICAL SERVICES

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, leads, and actions activities required in computer systems network design, connectivity, and implementation.

  • Implement comprehensive network monitoring, reporting, and alerting products to monitor network performance and maintain performance metrics and KPIs.

  • Maintains redundant networking systems to minimize downtime and improve efficiency and
  • Reviews connectivity requests to determine requirements for installation or

  • Designs layouts for implementing new projects or
  • Develops measures of productivity and maintains records of time spent involving network on special projects.
  • Develops policies and procedures related to the implementation and utilization of the MTA network, including access to outside resources such as the Internet.
  • Troubleshoot network problems or systems failure involving hardware and software to determine the causes and possible solutions.
  • Implement solutions to resolve problems or notify the Manager of Technical Services of solutions requiring resources not currently available without other approval.
  • Establishes documentation standards for networking to ensure network performance and ease of utilization.
  • Develops bid specifications for the purchase of hardware or software used in systems network development processes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required Skills and/or Experience.

An associate degree (2-years) in a technical field including computer systems and network Bachelors Preferred.
