Description

We are currently in search of a highly skilled and experienced Safety Director to assume a leadership role in overseeing safety and compliance within our transportation company. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all our operations adhere to relevant DOT regulations and standards, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with DOT regulations and standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential risks.

  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure consistent adherence to safety protocols across the organization.

  • Investigate and report all accidents and incidents to both management and the appropriate regulatory agencies.

  • Manage and supervise the company's drug and alcohol testing program.

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, drivers, and contractors.

  • Monitor and analyze safety data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and industry groups, to promote safety best practices and compliance.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., transportation, occupational health and safety, or engineering) or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation safety, with a proven track record of ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and standards.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to transportation safety, including FMCSA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence others to adopt safety best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying and mitigating risks and developing effective solutions.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to changing priorities and requirements.

  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time to oversee safety operations at various locations.

  • Certification as a Certified Director of Safety (CDS) or a similar certification is preferred.
