Jabil is adding a Test Engineering Technician II to our team in Northern Kentucky who will directly contribute to the transformative growth within our Advanced Compute division by applying unique and innovative approaches to developing end-customer product solutions. Within the Test Engineering department, the Test Engineering Technician II will contribute to providing innovative solutions to improve product quality and efficiency. This position will play a pivotal role throughout the integration phase, while driving technical excellence in support of new and sustaining AI/ML and GPGPU and hardware accelerator-based server, networking, and storage platforms.
JOB SUMMARYThe Test Engineering Technician II plays a vital role in supporting the development and implementation of test solutions in a server manufacturing environment. This position collaborates with Test Engineers, Manufacturing Operations, and Test Support teams to ensure optimized testing processes, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and enhance production efficiency. With responsibilities ranging from building and maintaining testing fixtures to providing documentation and training, this role is critical to delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in hardware, software, and networking with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
COMPENSATION
- $28.00 USD - total hourly rate; no shift premium included for 401 shift.
SHIFT / SCHEDULE
Test Engineering Technician II is required to work 12-hour shifts, on the following schedule:
Shift 401: (weekday, days) working Monday through Wednesday and every other Thursday, from 6:00AM to 6:00PM.
Example: work 36 hours on week 1 (Monday through Wednesday), then 48 hours on week 2 (Monday through Thursday), then 36 hours on week 3, etc.
Additional overtime may be required, depending on business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the development of automated test scripts using scripting languages and support the commissioning of test solutions in alignment with system qualification processes.
Monitor system operations during testing cycles, document errors encountered, and diagnose faults to identify root causes, driving corrective actions to minimize recurrence.
Repair testers and fixtures, documenting repairs and improvements in accordance with fault logging, downtime systems, and ISO standards.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for test equipment, ensuring timely scheduling and execution of maintenance to the correct standards.
Build and maintain testers, fixtures, and environmental test chambers to meet specification standards and customer expectations.
Monitor testers for intermittencies and improve performance in accordance with defined targets for yields, efficiency, and uptime.
Control and maintain equipment maintenance, calibration, and part numbering systems, including establishing minimum/maximum inventory levels for spares and components.
Support Operations and Test Engineers by participating in continuous improvement initiatives, promoting a "Quality First" mindset, and providing comprehensive documentation and training.
Collaborate with Manufacturing to deliver detailed documentation, training, and education for all implemented test operations.
Partner with Engineers to enhance the test process, optimizing cost and coverage to ensure efficient and effective testing outcomes.
Coordinate with Manufacturing and Test Support teams to prioritize activities and ensure timely test readiness in alignment with the weekly production schedule.
Provide support for component programming facilities and label printing equipment as needed.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
One to two+ years of experience troubleshooting hardware at the component level using schematics or specifications.
Proficiency with scripting languages, hardware/network troubleshooting, and Linux, with demonstrated expertise in utilizing the command line interface throughout the testing and integration process.
Hands-on experience with network installations, including building and configuring server racks.
In-depth knowledge of networking, including switches, transceivers, and optical fibers.
Solid understanding of computer hardware interaction and related concepts.
Skilled in the use of power tools and hand tools for assembly and troubleshooting tasks.
Exhibit strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify and effectively explain complex problems.
Possess a solid understanding of software and computer hardware components, with the capability to diagnose and repair issues in a server manufacturing environment.
Demonstrate familiarity with performance and functional testing protocols for complex compute racks.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and other stakeholders.
Apply problem-solving skills to define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Proficient in operating personal computers, including familiarity with Windows-based operating systems and related software.
Demonstrate advanced PC skills, including experience with Jabil’s software packages or similar systems.
Write clear and concise correspondence and interpret visual aids effectively.
Apply common sense to execute simple one- or two-step instructions and navigate standardized situations with minimal variability.
Comprehend and follow simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Perform basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Calculate rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret data using graphs.
High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree in a Computer or Electrical Engineering discipline, preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Individual’s primary workstation is located in the production area. The noise level in this environment ranges from low to moderate. Required PPE for the production area includes composite toed shoes, hearing protection, protective eyewear, and an ESD vest. The manufacturing floor is modernized, climate-controlled, and well-lit.
