Job Description
Responsible for the implementation, administration, interpretation, and enforcement of safety & environmental requirements including plant, Corporate, local, state and federal regulations. Establish safety & environmental standards based on risk/hazard analysis to meet regulatory requirements and HSE management systems (ISO 14001, OSHA VPP, ISO 45001). Review of HSE incidents for root cause and establishment of corrective and preventative actions. Provide technical assistance with various plant staff functions. Coordinate plant safety teams.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance routes are completed and updated as needed
HSE related communication including training, safety alerts and production review meetings
Prepare HSE related training material and lead training classes.
Lead / take part in Incident Investigation facilitating root cause analysis and proper corrective and preventative actions
Participate in/lead plant emergency response teams
Conduct hazard assessments of equipment/jobs to ensure they meet all applicable requirements
Develop/revise HSE related policies/procedures for the plant and drive implementation
Lead safety audits of key program areas to ensure compliance with regulatory and Norms
Conducts formal reviews of new equipment, equipment modifications, or process changes
Maintain documentation to meet Norms and regulatory requirements
Provide leadership and guidance to the plant safety teams
Interact with state and federal agencies and consultants to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies' requirements
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree - OR - High School Diploma or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience in a Safety or Environmental support role in a warehousing, manufacturing, or industrial environment
1+ years of HSE experience in a warehouse, production or industrial environment preferred
Must possess: (1) the ability to identify, analyze, interpret, and resolve unusually complex management and technical problems; (2) excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present findings; (3) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and (4) excellent computer skills: MS Office Suite Applications.
Valid Driver's License
Ability to work independently and with a team
Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. in Engineering, Health, Sciences, Occupational Safety, Environmental, or other related field
Knowledge of regulatory bodies and standards (OSHA, EPA, ISO, RCRA, etc.)
Knowledge of Safety and Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001, OSHA VPP, ISO45001)
