We are looking for a Operational Vendor Manager to join our Global Business Services team in Florham Park, NJ.

The Operational Vendor Management role involves steering and developing 3PL(s) to maximize their value through close collaboration. This includes establishing visibility and transparency on forwarding services, managing service delivery and escalations, and monitoring and rating service provider performance against target KPIs, PIs, and SLAs. The role also focuses on safeguarding logistic process knowledge, ensuring a strong link between LSP/3PL(s) and internal functions, and analyzing opportunities for improvement and optimization. Additionally, the role involves establishing performance management covering Service KPIs, Cost & Quality for different Service Providers, and supporting the development of risk assessment, contingency plans and application of respective measures in collaboration with service providers.

As a Operational Vendor Manager 3PL, you create chemistry by...

  • Establishing visibility/transparency of different 3 PL’s / Forwarding Services across North America and support country OVM’s /Import Export Teams on sharing of best practices on cost management, service scopes and performance

  • Managing of service provider (LSP/3PL) performance and contract adherence, where you will play a key role by providing input to the definition, review, and update of KPI's and SLA's as well as target values. You will also conduct regular review meetings regarding LSP performance, participate in carrier performance review with LSP where appropriate, and drive continuous improvement of Import / Export management, carrier and service provider operations based on the evaluation of performance and service level agreements

  • Providing input on contract management, service requirements, and implementation to BASF internal functions, e.g. Legal, Procurement, etc.

  • Handling the risk management of 3PL partnership and overall transport management that includes identifying and assessing risks together with the LLP/3PL to define counter measures to be included in contingency planning. In line with this, you will be in charge of communicating risks and execute contingency plans where required and drive appropriate updates to the contingency plan

  • Ensuring LSP adherence to BASF standards, compliance procedures (regarding e.g. operations, cost, security, EHS, etc.), and to local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. In case LSP needs to be replaced, you will support change management in period of transition and implementation of alternative

If you...

  • Have a bachelor's degree or above in international trade, logistics, supply chain or related discipline.

  • Possess 5+ years of working experience in logistics and/or import & export operations related.

  • Have Supply chain management / operational logistics knowledge

  • Have working experience in chemical industry it would be a plus

  • Possess SAP experience it would be preferred
