Description of Work Unit
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I- FBS and the Mountain West Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. Position Summary
The Senior Director of Marketing and Sales creates and implements fan engagement and revenue generation strategies and tactics through communication, advertising campaigns, database marketing, email marketing, social media and promotional initiatives for the department. Responsible for increasing awareness that translates into additional revenue, attendance while also developing other revenue streams. This position will build and execute strategic plans for assigned sport(s) that focus on driving attendance, sales and revenues. For assigned sport(s), this position will lead game presentation and fan experience efforts. This individual will support gameday activations for football such as tailgating and ticket promotion activations.
Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, advertising, communications, journalism, creative design or any other field related to job duties and responsibilities
Minimum of two years of marketing experience
Prior experience with email marketing systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of key marketing principles
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency at prioritizing multiple and competing responsibilities
Proficiency with technology and social media
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, oversight and guidance to marketing strategy
Demonstrated revenue generational responsibilities include but are not limited to: ticket sales, fundraising, merchandise sales, social media engagement, website visits, events and attendance.
Must have valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Master’s degree in marketing, business, advertising, communications, journalism, creative design or any other field related to job duties and responsibilities
Minimum of four years of marketing experience, preferably in NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics
Prior experience with Adobe Suite
Demonstrated ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team
Prior experience collaborating with other external units such as Ticket staff, Development staff, Gameday production staff, Communications staff, and Event Management staff.
Knowledge of NCAA regulations for Division I institutions

Lead the development and management of marketing and promotional initiatives designed to increase the department’s profile, engagement, and resume.
Oversee and manage the marketing outreach strategies and calendars for the external relations unit.
Execute plans to optimize outreach through building campaigns that include the entire Athletics communication and marketing network.
Maximize sales and revenue generation for ticket sales, marketing, merchandise, development, and other revenue streams through coordinated marketing campaigns.
Revenue generation priorities include but are not limited to: ticket sales, fundraising, merchandise sales, social media engagement, website visits, events and attendance.
Assist in development and execution of email marketing strategies that drive revenue and distribute content that enhances the Colorado State Athletics brand

Oversee marketing initiatives and game production for sports assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing
Develop single game promotions and create group experience opportunities.
Maximize fan experience in collaboration with RamVision, Band, Ticketing, Communications, Development, and Rams Sports Properties
Assist with developing creative marketing programs and activities which cultivate interest and support from University groups, the community, and local businesses
Recruit, train and oversee student hourly employees and volunteers within the marketing and fan experience unit.

Duty/Responsibility
Participate as a member of the Athletics Marketing unit by attending staff meetings and collaborating on initiatives that serve the best interests of CSU Athletics.
Train and coordinate student hourly employees and volunteers for various roles within Marketing unit.
Assist Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing with ensuring Marketing unit is an inclusive environment for staff and continuously strive for inclusive excellence, meeting department’s guiding principles, and university’s Principles of Community.
Ensure compliance with all departmental, University, conference and NCAA procedures, rules and regulations.
Complete other duties as assigned.
