Natural Resources Consulting Engineers, Inc., a water resources consulting engineering firm in Fort Collins, CO, provides state-of-the-art engineering consulting services in civil, water resources, agricultural, and environmental disciplines. With a staff of experts in the fields of irrigation and agricultural engineering, surface and groundwater hydrology, hydraulics, and civil engineering design we are currently seeking a water resources engineer to join our team.

Position Overview: This position will provide technical support for projects related to water resources, irrigation, and water infrastructure. You will work closely with project teams to address a wide variety of tasks and work directly with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to provide effective engineering solutions and support.This full-time position provides the opportunity to work on impactful projects in a small, collaborative environment that contributes to sustainable water management and agricultural development. Hybrid work schedules are considered.

Key Responsibilities: Prepare conceptual and final designs of municipal and irrigation facilities, including pipe distribution systems, water and wastewater treatment, headgates, canals, reservoirs, diversion structures, and water control and water measurement structures. Establish real-time surface and groundwater monitoring and telemetry systems, incorporating the development of rating curves or use of flow measurement structures. Design sediment control structures, including settling basins and sediment ejectors, based on analyses of sediment transport, bedforms, river mechanics, and fluvial morphology. Perform hydrodynamic and civil design computer simulation modeling and analysis of open-channel flow systems, water distribution systems, collection systems, and two-dimensional surface water flow. Maintain quality control on construction projects, including the coordination of scheduling, bid processing, and as-built surveys. Assist in litigation support for water rights claims, including research and quantity assessments. Develop cost estimates, formulate technical memorandums, generate formal drawings and reports, develop contracts and subcontracts, and maintain project contacts for select projects. Perform occasional field work and overnight travel as required.

Qualifications: M.S. degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, or a related field. Candidates with a B.S. degree and strong related experience may be considered. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
