MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS New York State Teacher Certification Ability to establish good rapport with students, staff, parents and community Knowledge and awareness of the current trends in teaching secondary science Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

MAJOR DUTIES Instructs students in basic subject matter specified in the state and local regulations and procedures of the school district Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes and cultural backgrounds Evaluates student progress and maintains records Implement new teaching methods and education tools, including project-based learning and performance-based assessment to create relevant and engaging learning experiences for students Is proficient in the teaching of science as directed by our courses of study Communicates with parents and school counselors to discuss pupil progress Other responsibilities as designated by the principal
