U.S. Army Forces Command Air Operations and Plans Specialist in Fort Johnson, Louisiana

Summary About the Position: Incumbent serves as the Air Operations and Plans Specialist with responsibilities and principal duties involving planning, scheduling and coordinating air mobility, airborne operations, jumpmaster proficiency, mobilization, emergency deployment readiness, casualty evacuation, emergency action planning, and support for the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and Fort Johnson. Responsibilities Serve as the Air Operations and Plans Specialist responsible for managing airborne operations and support for the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) and Fort Johnson. Develop the installation airborne standard operating procedures (ASOP). Reviewing unit requests for aviation support to ensure compliance with policies and schedule Air Force aircraft to support installation airborne training. Serves as the G3 primary hand receipt holder ensuring property accountability. Coordinate air operations briefings to the Commanding General and other senior leaders that are concise and effective to achieve optimum success. Conduct monthly air meetings with subordinate units to determine installation airborne requirements. Produce memorandums for distribution to subordinate units informing them of changes to policies and other information necessary to ensure an effective airborne proficiency program. Resolve complicated problems regarding air operations that are unpredictable in nature such as emergency situations that affect various agencies. Manage Aviation Assets by reviewing helicopter flight requests for airborne operations to submit requests to higher headquarters for approval as required. Review Operational Support Airlift (OSA) requests from installation units and staffs to ensure their compliance with regulations and policies. Coordinate all flight requests for entrance in JRTC rotation areas with other federal or non-federal governments for successful air operations. Perform jumpmaster duties such as monitoring local airborne training sessions to ensure standard operating and safety procedures are trained and enforced. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience is work that includes supporting airborne operations by coordinating all aspects of air mobility such as planning, scheduling and/or emergency action planning, researching policies to develop standard operating procedures for the organization, assisting in planning briefings to senior leaders that are effective to achieve optimum success for the organization, assisting in resolving complicated problems regarding air operations that affect various agencies, OR reviewing airborne training sessions to ensure standard operating and/or safety procedures are enforced. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
