Job Overview:

  • Emergency Response: Respond to environmental emergencies within a 24-hour period.

  • Technical Work: Perform technical field and office work, operate mechanical equipment such as Vac Trucks, Super Duster, forklifts, pallet jacks, lift gates, trucks, trailers, and more.

  • Clean-Up & Decontamination: Conduct clean-up and decontamination procedures.

  • Inventory & Reporting: Maintain inventory lists and complete various reports and Field Dailies.

  • Spill Response: Understand the terminology and principles of spill responses.

  • Hazardous Materials: Possess basic knowledge of proper storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous materials collected during clean-up.

  • Public Interaction: Work well with the public, clients, and other employees.

  • Communication: Field phone calls and communicate effectively with Field Supervisors.

  • Chemical Handling: Perform limited chemical tests and work around a variety of chemicals.

  • Manual Labor: Perform tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, pushing, and pulling.

Qualifications:

  • VALID CDL License

  • Mechanical Equipment Operation: Experience operating mechanical equipment.

  • Spill Response Knowledge: Understand spill response terminology and principles.

  • Hazardous Material Handling: Knowledge of hazardous material storage, treatment, and disposal.

  • Chemical Testing: Ability to perform limited chemical tests.

  • Field Logs: Prepare equipment and maintain accurate field logs.

  • Communication & Teamwork: Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Public Interaction: Ability to interact with the public.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience: 2 years of labor-intensive work in an environmental, construction, or heavy industrial environment preferred.

  • Instructions: Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.

  • Safety Procedures: Ability to learn and adhere to proper safety procedures.

  • Weather Conditions: Ability to work in all weather and environmental conditions (sun, rain, cold, swamp, ditches, dirt).

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of bulky equipment, bend, stoop, sit, and stand.

  • Specialized Tasks: Drum procession and sampling, tank cleaning, spill crew member, general construction, equipment decontamination, vehicle and equipment maintenance, use of all levels of PPE.

  • CDL License: Class A or B with tanker & hazmat endorsements within 90 days.

  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Experience with Excavator, Skid-steer, Bulldozer, Forklift, and other heavy equipment operation preferred.
