This is a job for a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator position with a company located in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Job Summary: Responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical cases as well as preparing and completing the surgical charts for patients for the Coral Gables or Fort Lauderdale Surgery Center.

Essential Functions: Schedule patients for surgery in person or over the phone, maintain surgical schedule for surgeons, and reschedule patients as needed, ?to the mutual satisfaction of the patient, the surgeon, and the facility staff. Communicate constantly with assigned surgeon and facility personnel for scheduling purposes. Arrange for pre-op testing; schedule pre-op, diagnostic testing, and post-op appointments. Arrange for medical clearance between the patient and primary care physician's office and communicate with primary doctors' offices in regard to the patient's upcoming surgery. Call for required prior authorizations. Send surgery request with CPT codes to insurance company, and call to confirm patient's benefits and eligibility. Prepare pre-op documentation, clarify instructions, and provide patient education. Review doctor's notes and orders to ensure that the correct information is given to the surgery center as well as the insurance company. Create, review, and complete surgical chart. Obtain any diagnostic test requested by the surgeon. Note and respond to any special instructions given by the surgeon. Confirm patient has required medication prior to surgery. Tending constantly to the phone and resolving patient requests or issues. Collect deductibles, copay, special lens fees, and self-pay fees on the day of the surgery. Communicates to the patients details about their upcoming procedure in a manner that instills understanding and confidence. Understand and communicate well with patients about cataract, retinal, glaucoma, oculoplastic procedures, and diagnostic testing required for the above-mentioned procedures. Understand the characteristics of the common anterior segment and oculoplastic disorders. Understand and follow procedures for surgical, diagnostic testing, and procedural schedules. Maintain patient confidentiality. Attend required meetings and trainings. Availability to travel to the office once or twice a week. Taking on any other responsibilities assigned by the manager.

Requirements: Job Specifications: Typically has the following skills or abilities: 2 years of experience in a Healthcare-Related field. Working understanding of A-scans, IOL Calculations, surgery orders, OCT, Visual Field, Photos, and medical clearance. Adhere to surgeon-detailed requests when they pertain to a surgical procedure. Consistently displays professionalism and positive rapport with fellow employees. Demonstrate initiative in accomplishing department and company-wide goals. Excellent communication skills with patients over the phone and in person, in an energetic and empathetic manner. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Detail-oriented and well-organized. Flexible schedule. Computer literate. Bilingual: English and Spanish.

Preferred Skills: Experience with NextGen. 

The compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. As a part of the compensation package, this role may include eligible bonuses and commissions. 

Salary Description: $15 - $17
