U.S. Army Sustainment Command Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri

About the Position: This position is located at the 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Leonard Wood, Supply and Services Division. Responsibilities Receive requests for issue or shipment of supplies and equipment. Determine docking area for off-loading. Operate forklifts/motor vehicles safely. Process incoming shipments from supported customer units or commercial shipments. Participate in inventories of stock on hand as required. Assemble items in temporary storage area for issue or further distribution to appropriate storage area. Perform warehousing duties such as receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping sensitive items such as small arms, classified items, and communication security material. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) tasks. I can perform warehousing operations which include 1) receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of supplies and equipment; and 2) unloading, inspecting, and tallying stock to assure quantities and types of items agree with shipping documents. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprints) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas requiring standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently required to lift and carry items weighing up to 70 pounds and to occasionally handle items over 70 pounds. Assistance is available in lifting heavier items. Working Conditions: Primarily works inside and outside in cold, damp, drafty and hot areas. Subject to injury from falling objects, collisions, shifting and overturning loads. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. This is a(n) Logistics Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position MAY be made permanent. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
