Joint Activities Maintenance Worker in Fort Liberty, North Carolina

Summary About the Position: This position serves as a Maintenace Worker for the Joint Special Operations Command. Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance on bathroom fixtures, doors and locks. Utilize a wide variety of custodial and preventive maintenance equipment and hand tools. Report to supervisor problems that are beyond the scope of preventive maintenance work. Measure and mix fungicides, insecticides and herbicides. Maintain hand tools and custodial equipment. Ensure turn-ins of unusable tools and equipment are repaired. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as washing and scrubbing bathroom floors, washing windows, walls and ceilings. I have experience in painting and a general knowledge and understanding of custodial tasks. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort. The work of subject position requires extensive walking, standing, bending and stooping. The incumbent occasionally climbs ladders or uses lift devices to perform high cleaning and maintenance operations. Frequently lifts heavy objects, including items up to 100 pounds. ?Working conditions. The incumbent is exposed to hazards of moving parts and sharp blades when working with power tools and exposed belts. The incumbent is exposed daily to harsh cleaning solutions and chemicals; wear of protective equipment and clothing is required. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Material Maintenance Management Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
