Join MITRE’s growing Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Innovation Center, where we partner with our federal sector customers to drive successful enterprise transformations within priority mission domains.

As part of MITRE’s Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (ES&T) Innovation Center, Enterprise Transition and Planning works with leaders and stakeholders to reimagine the art of possibilities within their problem domain. We help our sponsors turn strategic priorities into a blueprint for planning and implementing changes in their enterprise. Our enterprise architecture experts help our sponsors understand the current and future states, uncover critical data and information, and develop roadmaps so they can make investment and transformation decisions, and design solutions to realize their mission goals.

We are a team of enterprise architects, enterprise solution architects, and transition strategists, and systems engineers, known for our breadth and depth of business and technology acumen. As an Enterprise Architect (EA) you have a fervor for mapping, aligning and improving an enterprise ’s operations through digital engineering, design thinking, technology implementation and change management. You have a passion to develop and grow our core capabilities in enterprise transition planning and shared services implementation. You will bring thought leadership, data driven analyses, and problem solving for our customers.

Roles & Responsibilities :

  • Define stakeholder engagement process and facilitate discussions focused on shaping the future organizational vision and collaborating to translate their mission, vision, goals, and strategies into a future state organizational construct.  

  • Analyze current operations relative to the future state vision and identify the changes required at varying levels of the enterprise architecture, i.e., business capability, application, technology and data, and infrastructure.    

  • Translate the customer mission, vision, goals, and strategies into an organizational construct; participate in development of a Concept of Operations ( ConOps ) that describes external entities, core capabilities, internal functions, and operational interactions.  

  • Collaborate with government staff to assess and align business capabilities and enabling technologies to the future state business processes, organizational structures, business/mission roles, and technology standards.    

  • Participate in the planning, evaluation and analysis of alternatives required to transition business capabilities from legacy technologies to new solutions including Software as a Service (SaaS) and other cloud-based services.    

  • Facilitate discussions pertaining to the prioritization and sequencing of the organizational, business process, and technology changes required to achieve the target state; participate in the development of a roadmap that defines transition states and the expected outcomes of each.  

  • Contribute to department’s capability development by supporting knowledge management, research and other efforts that reinforce MITRE's reputation as a thought leader in Enterprise Architecture both internally with other capability areas and externally with Government, Industry, Academia, and Professional Societies.  

  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts and packages, including working with enterprise architecture data to generate data-driven answers to the questions being addressed by the enterprise architecture.  

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering , Information Technology, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or related field and 8 + years’ experience demonstrating the ability to meet stated responsibilities.  

  • Possess an active security DoD clearance at Secret level or higher

  • Experience in systems analysis and integration, data modeling, software/system design, requirements analysis, and/or business process redesign.  

  • K nowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (Zachman, TOGAF, DoDAF , UAF, etc.)

  • Proven deep knowledge in at least one technical area

  • Experience with EA and / or Design Thinking (DT), road mapping, process modeling, information and data exchanges, persona development, journey maps, service blueprints.   

  • Ability to create visualizations.

  • Experience leading projects and teams.

  • Ability to work with ambiguity and with rapid change where timelines may be compressed. 

  • Familiarity with working with Department of Defense and other Government agencies

  • Proficiency and strength in all forms of communication, e.g., verbal, written, digital and public speaking. 

  • Proficiency with standard office automation tools, specifically MS Office 365 suite.  

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field of study.

  • Enterprise Architecture certification

  • Experience with Technology Business Management (TBM), Unified Modeling Language (UML), Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN), System Modeling Language ( SysML ), and/or Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD), and Federal Integrated Business Framework (FBIF).

  • Experience with enterprise software acquisition, requirements, deployments and modernization efforts including cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) and SaaS products.

  • Experience with systems modeling and architecture tools including MS Visio, NoMagic , Alfabet , LeanIX , et. al.
