Description

Seeking a dedicated Transportation Planner to join our Department of Transportation team. This role demands a blend of organizational, technical, and analytical skills to oversee transportation planning operations. The successful candidate will manage key elements of the County’s comprehensive plan, Land Development Code, and Administrative Codes, and spearhead planning initiatives for transportation infrastructure to accommodate growth. This includes crafting planning documents and delivering insightful reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the annual Public Facilities Level of Service and Concurrency Inventory and Projections Report to identify public facility capacities.

  • Lead and manage reviews for zoning and Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA) cases, and actively participate in public meetings and hearings with the Board of County Commissioners, hearing examiners, and advisory committees on transportation and infrastructure planning matters.

  • Maintain and update the Transportation Element/Maps and other infrastructure components of the comprehensive plan, along with associated Land Development Code and Administrative Code sections.

  • Represent the Department of Transportation (DOT) at the Technical Advisory Committee of the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), collaborating with MPO staff on the Long Range Transportation Plan.

  • Conduct annual revisions of the project scoring spreadsheet and perform cost estimations for transportation Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) priorities.

  • Oversee contract management for periodic updates of various impact fee studies.

Education, Experience, Licensing

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in planning, engineering, or a related field that applies to the area of specialization and two years of professional experience in a government agency or private firm doing work in city, county, regional or state transportation planning or transportation engineering.

  • Experience in the administration and direction of transportation planning activities preferred.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
