U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Helicopter Flight Instructor (CH-47F) in Fort Novosel, Alabama

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Operates CH-47F rotary wing aircraft and associated flight simulator(s) as an instructor pilot located in Fort Novosel, Alabama. Responsibilities Plans and conducts flight training while evaluating graduate and undergraduate aviators on pre-flight through post-flight tasks and maneuvers. Attends daily IP briefing when performing IP duties and conducts daily student briefs when directed by the commander or supervisor. Instructs and evaluates academic topics in accordance with TC 3-04.11 or current, equivalent publication(s), the aircrew catalogue of academic topics (ACAT), current Army and Aviation doctrine, and other special topics selected by the command. Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining files and records, completing and maintaining grade slips and folders on students. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes instructing pilots in flight maneuvers and tasks in the CH47F helicopter; instructing and evaluating pilots in basic/advanced flight maneuvers, aircraft systems and limitations, instruments flight procedures and terrain flight to include nap-of-the earth flight techniques; operating the AH-64D/E Longbow while instructing and evaluating the copilot/gunners station integrating the Target Acquisition Designation System, Fire Control Radar, Radio Frequency Interferometer, weaponry, laser operations, fire delivery, aerial gunnery techniques, tactical digital communications and navigation; conducting classroom instruction concerning the CH47F aircraft systems and operating procedures; monitoring standardization requirements, and recommending changes in lesson plans, program of instruction, training methods and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). CERTIFICATIONS: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. MINIMUM FLIGHT HOURS REQUIREMENT: Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command - 250 Night Flying - 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months - 100 (may be waived) Instructor Hours - 500 Instrument Hours - 75 Actual Weather- 10 FLIGHT HOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON THE RESUME IN THE ABOVE FORMAT.
