Seventh Dimension Mechanic in Fort Novosel, Alabama

Position: Mechanic

Type: Full-Time and Part-time

Location: Fort Novosel, Dothan, AL

Travel: To nearby locations or job sites to service vehicles and equipment owned by the company or its clients.

Position Summary: As a Mechanic at Fort Novosel in Dothan, AL, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of various vehicles and equipment. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles and machinery to ensure they function efficiently and safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Vehicle Diagnostics and Repairs:

  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues in vehicles, including cars, trucks, and other motorized equipment.

  • Perform necessary repairs to restore their functionality and safety.

  • Preventive Maintenance:

  • Conduct regular inspections and scheduled maintenance to proactively identify and address potential mechanical problems. This includes checking fluid levels, changing oil, inspecting brakes, and conducting other routine maintenance tasks.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain and repair various types of machinery and equipment used in Fort Novosel operations, such as generators, construction equipment, and other motorized tools.

  • Parts Management:

  • Manage inventory of spare parts and ensure the availability of necessary components for repairs and maintenance tasks.

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to order new parts when required.

  • Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance and repair tasks. Ensure that all vehicles and equipment are in compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations.

  • Documentation:

  • Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed, including the parts used and the hours spent on each task.

  • Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other mechanics, technicians, and departments to share knowledge and ensure a smooth workflow.

  • Equipment Testing:

  • Conduct performance tests on repaired vehicles and equipment to verify the effectiveness of the repairs and ensure their proper functionality.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous Automotive Service Tech Experience (1 year minimum).

  • ASE Certification is a PLUS.

  • High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably in a similar environment or related industry.

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment mechanics, electrical systems, and hydraulics.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues accurately.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors effectively.

  • Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy equipment and perform manual tasks.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
