U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Supervisory Physician Assistant (Instructor) in Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an Instructor (Physician Assistant) for the combat paramedic branch. Subject matter expert on combat trauma topics, especially focusing on combat trauma at levels I/II, enroute critical care and paramedic transport for the MEDCoE, located in Fort Sam Houston, TX. Responsibilities Responsible for oversight of the design, development and/or evaluation for the Programs of Instructions (POIs)on: Combat Paramedic Program (68W-3P), the Critical Care Flight Paramedic Program (68W-F2), and the Paramedic Recertification course. Develops and prepares lesson plans and instructional materials and program evaluations as required for military occupational specialties and departmental training to meet AHS, MEDCoE and U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) requirements. Prepares and conducts lectures, practical exercises and small group instruction directed towards clinical situations in relationship to combat trauma and critical care paramedic in areas of concern to the students. Supervises and directs the development of the CPB individual training courses and products taught in residence and distributed to the field. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Provides advice, guidance and oversight concerning the application of the policies, processes, and procedures for designing, producing, and/or evaluating instructional programs. Basic Requirements for Supervisory Physician Assistant: Education: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: GS-13 Experience: A minimum of one full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant which includes preparing and conducting lectures, practical exercises and small group instructions directed towards clinical situations in relationship to combat trauma and critical care paramedic in areas of concern to the students; Developing and preparing lesson plans, and instructional materials and program evaluations as required for military occupational specialties and departmental training; Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of advanced medical subjects (standards of care) and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Paramedic (NREMT-P) processes, practices, and procedures and applying that knowledge in decisions associated with the Program of Instruction (POI). Experience advising, counseling, and instructing employees on work and administrative matters; hear and resolve complaints; and adjusts work procedures to accommodate decisions to complete mission and course objectives. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). ?Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
