BAE Systems Safety, Health & Environment Lead in Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Job Description

This is an exciting and challenging position for a motivated individual to join the Intelligence & Security Sector as the Safety, Health, & Environment (SHE) Lead for our Sensor & Electronic Solutions Business Unit. This position will be based out of our manufacturing facility in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Reporting to the Sr. Manager for Safety, Health & Environment that supports the Air & Space Force Solutions Business. This role will collaborate with the larger SHE Department to provide technical and professional support to BAE Systems Managers and employees to improve the Safety/Health of our employees, ensure Environmental risks are mitigated, and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

This position will observe a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off and 1-day a week work from home option after 90-120 days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with management, staff, and hourly employees to promote the development of a safety, health, and environmental culture that exhibits the behaviors and processes outlined in the BAE Systems SHE management systems

  • Lead and execute incident investigations with line management and various levels of professionals and skilled workers within the organization

  • Lead root cause analysis utilizing defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures

  • Report or review findings from incident investigations, inspections or other applicable information to senior leadership

  • Lead Management of Change and Risk Assessment/Review processes

  • Maintain the ISO-45001 certification and alignment to ISO-14001 for the Fort Walton Beach locations

  • Develop schedules for inspecting facilities, machinery, and equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety and health regulation compliance

  • Assist with the on-going development and management of the sector SHE Management System. Prepare and update procedures and work instruction.

  • Be instrumental in assisting with sector SHE reviews, inspections, and audits

  • Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment in order to determine if safety health and environmental requirements have been met

  • Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, and temperature levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Develop contract/project specific Safety, Health and Environment Plans

  • Ability to execute required company and regulatory training to management staff and employees

  • Assist with interaction with federal, state, and local regulators during inspections

  • Exact duties will be determined based on the experience of the candidate selected

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in environmental, safety or equivalent field

  • Six or more years experience in manufacturing, production or industrial environments

  • Thorough knowledge of various EHS regulations (OSHA/EPA/NFPA/DOT)

  • Thorough knowledge of various EHS Management Systems (ISO-14001 & 45001)

  • Basic knowledge of TSCA and FMSCA requirements/regulations

  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization (verbally & written)

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Manage time efficiently with little supervision

  • Ability to coach/consult with line management at all levels relative to building a culture and processes that lead to excellent SHE performance

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • OHST/GSP/ASP/CSP certification

  • Active Secret clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $91980 - $156330

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
