Community Health Systems Surgical Tech Cert Labor & Delivery FT Nights Weekends in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Job Summary
Under the immediate direction of Director of Birthplace, prepares the surgical suite and patient for surgery and assists the team during the procedure. Assists on the unit with cleaning, stocking and assisting team in vaginal deliveries.
Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications
Licensure:
Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology*
BCLS within 60 days of hire
*annually shall complete fifteen (15) hours of continuing education concerning surgical technology in order to continue practicing surgical technology.
Experience: Minimum of two years surgical tech experience desired.
Education:
Must be a graduate of a Surgical Technologist program or must provide evidence of employment as a Surgical Technologist prior to July 1, 2009 with a High School diploma or its equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited a surgical technology program or completed a surgical technology program provided by the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps or Coast Guard or the commissioned corps of the United States Public Health Service.
Other:
Demonstrates working knowledge of hospital service theme.
Requires a thorough knowledge of sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
Demonstrates general knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments and supplies utilized in order to prepare operating suite/treatment room for surgery and assist medical team throughout the procedure.
Requires general working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (including pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric).
Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary tointeract effectively with all internal and external customers.
