Our 10-week Applications Analyst Internship offers a comprehensive program where you will gain hands-on project experience, networking opportunities, and professional development. As an intern, you will have the chance to explore the vital role of Information Technology in driving our technical system analysis and operational support processes. Throughout the program, you will receive exposure to the field and valuable insights into potential career paths.

We offer competitive compensation, including a housing stipend for eligible candidates. Please note that relocation to Providence, Rhode Island is required for the duration of the program.

How you can contribute:

  • Collaborate closely with the Systems Manager - Finance, finance functions, and business units.

  • Identify potential business solutions, new applications, and enhancements to existing financial applications.

  • Work closely with database administrators to ensure the adoption of best practices for architecture, supporting the performance requirements of our financial systems.

  • Identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefits of IT financial system investments.

  • Install upgrades, patches, new modules, and configuration changes to infrastructure and software.

  • Lead the resolution of issues, troubleshoot system problems, and conduct root cause analysis.

  • Gather business requirements, draft technical specifications, develop user acceptance testing, and provide training.

  • Apply a solid understanding of hardware/software development methodologies in projects.

  • Understand the sensitivity of financial information and the critical time periods for reporting.

  • Travel approximately 10%.

  • Open to future career development opportunities within Textron business unit locations.

  • Protect and maintain the privacy of employee personnel records, including personal and compensation information.

Qualifications

What you can bring:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a major such as CS, MIS, or related specialty fields

  • Technical skills required:

  • JAVA/J2EE; JSP; JavaScript; .net; HTML; XML; and other comparable web-enabled languages.

  • Databases: Oracle; MS SQL Server or MySQL.

  • UNIX; Linux; Windows Operating Systems.

  • Experience with financial applications and file integrations (extract, transform, load) is desired.

  • Working knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and standards.

  • Ability to translate customer needs into business/functional requirements.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing tasks, addressing high-priority requests or issues promptly.

  • Confidence to propose and implement new technical solutions to meet customer needs.
