Urology Clinics of North Texas strives to provide highly positive medical outcomes, proven advanced technology and pharmaceuticals. We deliver care in locations convenient to patients throughout the Dallas, Collin, Rockwall, and Tarrant County areas.

The Certified Medical Assistant under the direction of a physician, assists in the delivery of health care for patients. This position performs a wide variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, maintenance of clinical record and documentation, administering medications, giving injections, and taking vital signs.

Preferred Experience (highly desired but not required)

Urology and/or Ob/GynNextGen or similar EMR's

Maintains patient flowInterviews patient, measures vital signs and records the informationPerforms tests as ordered by the physicianPrepares/assists physician with patient exam and/or proceduresPrepares patient roomsPrepares specimens for laboratoryAdministers injections and catheters using sterile techniqueCleans and restocks patient rooms, lab area and storeroomSterilizes instrumentsPerforms veni-punctureDocuments patient’s chartPerforms triage dutiesAssists primary nurse with labs, etc.Opens clinic and lab in the amCloses clinic and labs in the pm (clean and dispose of biohazard waste)Front office and back office experience is a plusPerforms other tasks and duties as may be added from time to time

MAINTENANCE OF SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Maintains a basic understanding of urology-related conditions, diseases and procedures.Utilizes good communication skills during interactions with patients and co-workers.Achieves and maintains positive working relationships and rapport with colleagues, physicians, employees, and other health care providers to ensure quality delivery and promotion of health care.INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is performed in accordance with established procedures and by using independent judgment and discretion. The Primary CMA is expected to analyze any patient questions and/or complaints and determine proper courses of action to take.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Cert Medical Assistant (CMA):

Must be CMA from one listed:

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma, Medical Assistant Certification.

  • Active Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification.

  • Multiple years of experience as Secondary Medical Assistant, and/or multiple years of Urology experience elsewhere.

  • Maintain a basic understanding of urology-related terminology, medications, procedures and instruments used.

  • Analyze and prioritize information to maintain a well-organized and efficient clinical structure.

  • Utilize good communication skills during interactions with parents, patients, coworkers and providers.

  • Achieve and maintain positive working relationships and rapport with ALL coworkers, physicians, employees and other health care providers to ensure quality delivery and promotion of health care.

  • Work should be performed in accordance with established procedures and by using independent judgment and discretion.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians, medical assistants, patients, co-workers, hospital staff and others.

  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Appropriate work attire is scrubs at all times. May be solid colors or appropriate prints.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task and pay very close attention to detail.

  • Must have the knowledge of medical office methods and procedures.

  • Must have the ability to perform specimen collection, vital signs, urinalysis, catheterization and instrument sterilization.

  • Must have basic computer skills and an understanding of the practice’s EMR/PM and Document Management Systems.

  • Maintain MA certification and required CEU’s.

  • Inter-office travel may be required per site.

  • Check with Administrator if any badges are required for parking, hospital security, etc.
