Plans, inspects, designs, and oversees the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment for a district or division. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Journeyman Electrician:Assists in planning and reviewing traffic signal and illumination projects to include revising standard details and standard specifications.Calculates electrical loads, wiring sizes and lengths.Designs and/or inspects electrical layouts and standard details according to commercial and/or industrial applications and the National Electric Code (NEC).Ensures safety requirements and standards are followed.Ensures strict adherence to the NEC and city electrical ordinances.Inspects and oversees the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and/or equipment according to applicable codes.Inspects electrical construction and/or maintenance contract work.May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.Operates electrical/electronic-testing equipment.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
