Summary
Transmission Engineering is accountable for planning, organizing, directing, and managing the engineering design, requisitioning of material and equipment, land, and construction support of transmission lines, switching stations, and load-serving substation facilities. Transmission Engineering creates and maintains engineering drawings and documentation for the transmission infrastructure in the Oncor system.
Under direct supervision, this Project Planning Analyst Intern position will support the team with analyzing budgets, preparing reports on capital Transmission projects, and performing various project related tasks as detailed below.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Under direct supervision the incumbent will:
Provide analytical and administrative support to Transmission Engineering
Support work Authorization approval routing and assignment of proper budgetary accounting
Support reimbursable type project review, analysis, billing, and tracking along with invoice creation for associated receivables
Assist with detailed FIM reports and analysis of monthly journals
Assist in creating Construction Work in Progress (CWIP) reports for department budget, aging projects, and project in service analysis.
Support team in proactively monitor Transmission Engineering projects to provide accounting oversight and capital variance identification
Support internal controls and processes that enhance visibility and improve accuracy in cost accounting
Assist and analyze project data within assigned programs as required - PETE, FIM, Maximo, Projectwise
Proactively monitor project data to identify/resolve schedule and cost variances
Prepare financial reports for Transmission capital budgets at various category, project, and organizational levels
Assist in the development of year-end capital budget forecasting analysis
Utilize analysis tools to translate large quantities of data into actionable information suitable for use by various work groups
Assist with the creation of CMPC project report for peer group review and analysis
Support team to provide documentation necessary for SOX control and audit requests
Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements
Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, & Skills
High school diploma; Pursuing an Associate’s degree or higher in related field.
Ability to analyze, manage and create various capital budgeting reports and summaries.
Able to set priorities without having full project requirements known
Effective analytical, critical thinking and creative problem solving skills
Capable of working with people of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
An understanding of accounting principles such as: GAAP, SOX, and General Ledger is preferred
