District / School Overview One of the exciting aspects of working here is our student diversity. The Elementary School at FRCS serves approximately 750 students in grades K-4. The 80+ staff members in the Elementary School are dedicated, collaborative, and compassionate educators and faculty that strive to provide all students with the tools needed to become successful global citizens. In addition to providing a standards-based curriculum, we also provide opportunities for students to build their character, engage in several itinerants, and learn Spanish starting in Kindergarten. The Dean of Culture Role The Dean of Culture will be responsible for ensuring that FRCS Elementary maintains a safe, equitable, and joyful environment where learning takes center stage. The Dean of Culture is on the school leadership team. They also coach other members of the school culture team (Behavior Interventionists and School Adjustment Counselors). Team Leadership The Dean of Culture manages and coaches their culture team, including behavior interventionists and school adjustment counselors, toward high performance. This includes one-on-one coaching conversations and leading frequent team meetings. School-Wide Leadership Set and take responsibility for cultural goals for the school Work with the leadership team to plan and facilitate high-quality training for FRCS staff Plan and lead school-wide culture routines and events Core Responsibilities Train teachers' school-wide on effective behavior management and culture-building practices and PBIS Oversee school-wide systems (PBIS) Coordinate after-school detention, in-school suspensions, and any discipline issues that go beyond the classroom Lead family engagement efforts and conduct parent conferences as needed Track and analyze non-academic student data Write and oversee student Tier Plans and BIPs Work with the Director and Assistant Director of Special Education on complex cases Work with outside agencies and community partners to connect our scholars with the additional non-academic resources they need Work as a member of the School Leadership Team to solve pressing tactical and strategic issues Manage legal documentation regarding student discipline Who We’re Looking For We seek outstanding leaders with the following qualifications: At least three years of teaching or behavior support experience in a K-4 setting is required; experience in a high-achieving urban school is strongly preferred Outstanding classroom management expertise and the ability to effectively coach teachers in this area Experience and expertise in facilitating difficult conversations with students, families, and teachers Experience serving in a predominantly low-income community An unwavering commitment to the belief that all kids can succeed Proven effectiveness in leading by example and coaching adults Humility, resilience, and a hunger to learn and grow A high level of personal organization and planning Infectious joy
