The Elementary School at FRCS serves approximately 750 students in grades K-4. In addition to providing a standards-based curriculum, we also provide opportunities for students to build their character, engage in several itinerants, and learn Spanish starting in Kindergarten. Responsibilities: The successful candidate for this position will: Demonstrate expertise and knowledge of all content areas they teach, including the appropriate levels of cognitive, social, and emotional development of the young child; Establish a respectful environment of a diverse population of students, developing a classroom learning environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and other children; Facilitate learning for all students using a variety of instructional methods, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, encourage exploration of ideas, and develop leadership qualities; Reflect on teaching practices, analyzing student learning, development, and growth and apply what is learned to improve instruction; Demonstrate leadership, advocate for the school and it’s students and exhibit high ethical standards; Take responsibility for student academic growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practice; General Expectations: Manage oneself by being organized, prepared, and punctual Manage resources, meet deadlines, follow through on commitments Act in ways that directly support the mission and vision of FRCS Learn and grow as a professional Use clear verbal and written communication and active listening skills Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with young children and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation and professional conduct Contribute to the goals and success of all teams and team members through collaboration, cooperation, and flexibility in team discussions, activities, and decision-making Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality Demonstrated committent to anti-bias, anti-racist (ABAR) education Qualifications- Required: Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree. Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1-6 and hold an SEI endorsement Candidates are subject to background checks including, CORI clearance, and fingerprinting Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. Qualifications- Preferred: Education: Hold a Master’s degree Experience working in an urban school district This position is part of the FRCSTA bargaining unit. Salary is commensurate with experience, including education level and professional-level years of service.
