ITW Machine Operator (3rd Shift) in Frankfort, Illinois

Machine Operator is primarily responsible for working from written work instructions and job specific written procedures to perform assigned tasks. The primary responsibilities of this position include basic machine operations (pressing buttons) and monitoring to operate automatic machinery, that produce small plastic components for the automotive industry. Additionally, our Machine Operator will assemble parts and verify quality in our manufacturing area to meet customer demand per the production schedule. This position is on 3rd Shift (Sunday - Thursday 11PM - 7AM).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: may include all the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Load, start up, and operate manual, semi-automated, or basic automated assembly machines; Shuts down if necessary

  • Inspect parts, complete required documentation and report any issues to supervisor. May be required to use measuring devices

  • Assemble parts as specified per job instructions/training

  • Print labels using Trans4M and label cartons

  • Maintain lot control system

  • Secure materials for use on assembly machine

  • Move final product to designated area

  • Complete/Assist with assembly machine set-up/changeover (may include some computer operation); Perform basic troubleshooting for machine issues.

  • Learn multiple machines and rotate as needed

  • Communicate with prior and oncoming shifts to achieve production requirements and promote awareness; Communicate any Machine/Quality issues immediately to supervisor

  • Housekeeping of cell area and general machine clean-up duties

  • Promote safety by abiding to all related policies and procedures of ITW SSM

  • Follows all procedures as outlined by ISO 9001, OSHA and IATF 16949

  • Complete all other duties assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Prior experience working in mechanical, automotive, manufacturing, automation systems preferred

  • Mechanical skills and an aptitude for hands-on work

  • Passion to meet productivity, quality and safety goals

  • Must be able to work weekends and mandatory OT as needed.

  • Experience in the plastics industry operating equipment preferred.

  • Team player with good attitude and strong work ethic

  • Good interpersonal skills with ability and willingness to communicate and work with other departments and provide training to colleagues
