Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

Operation of material handling equipment to move materials and perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs to commercial equipment and property by self-performing of the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operation of fork truck to perform daily task, loading of wood compactor, movement of all scrap metals and cleanup of outside staging areas.

  • Assist with preventative maintenance including but not limited to cranes, dock equipment, material handling equipment, HVAC equipment, fire protection equipment, eyewash stations, ladders, lift magnets, lights, air compressors, boilers, water heaters and pumps.

  • Performs scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs as needed to include painting and patching, ceiling tile replacement, plumbing work, lamp replacement, floor repair, windows, door closures, hardware and sweeps.

  • Assist with department moves and the equipment office furniture, computers, printers, cabinets, material racks and work benches.

  • Can include manual tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting and moving material.

  • Supports client satisfaction by ensuring they are informed about the status of their requests in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Performs building inspections and is responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions, or necessary repairs to identify solutions.

  • Completes and submits paperwork accurately and on time.

  • Manages time wisely, remains productive while working independently.

  • Works required hours. Is available during non-work hours as needed and responds to emergency calls in a timely manner.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Two to five years facilities maintenance experience, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Experience with Operating material handling equipment preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license. Have or able to obtain forklift license and man lift license.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, or talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 100 pounds. No Specific vision requirements.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
