Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Operator II to join our world-class team in Frederick, MD. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and make a difference in the world. With a focus on quality and attention to detail, you will play a vital role in the success of our Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) and Biosciences Division (BID). Equivalent experience will also be considered for candidates without specific educational requirements like GSD.

Location/Division Specific Information

The Frederick, MD location is a critical part of Thermo Fisher’s organization, providing support for multiple divisions and business groups. Join our dynamic team in Frederick as a part of our Clinical Sequencing Division and shape the future of the world.

Shift Information

Monday - Friday, from 2pm-10:30pm (overtime as needed)

How will you make an impact:

As a Manufacturing Operator II at our manufacturing staging value stream, you will:

  • Maintain the production schedule 48 hours ahead of schedule dates

  • Perform product inspections and verify SKU, LOT, and QTY

  • Handle and process materials in temperature sensitive conditions

  • Troubleshoot problems and ensure detailed operations

  • Safely operate a 26’ foot box truck and transit vehicle

  • Operate pallet jacks and lift up to 70 lbs. with a team lift

  • Work in normal to extreme conditions

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with work groups

  • Satisfactorily complete training requirements and operate within all ISO and FDA standards

This position requires a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, as errors could result in customers receiving non-conforming products. You will receive training and instruction until you are proficient to work independently.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A high school diploma or GED

  • 0-2 years of related experience in manufacturing

  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing principals

  • A consistent track record of following policies, procedures, and instructions

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

  • Basic digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
