Robert Half Payroll Manager in Frederick, Maryland
Description
We are looking for a Payroll Manager, who will be tasked with managing all payroll-related functions and tasks, including but not limited to resolving complex issues and calculations. The individual should have superior proficiency in payroll management and an in-depth comprehension of related policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in recommending changes in procedures when required.
Responsibilities:
• Manage and execute the entire payroll process and ensure appropriate execution of salary payments.
• Supervise the preparation and processing of direct deposit files and all related payroll reports.
• Oversee the collection and processing of payroll data for error-free payroll completion.
• Constantly evaluate workflow to prevent and rectify payroll-related discrepancies.
• Examine and approve tax deposits, and prepare forms for payroll maintenance.
• Lead, supervise, and appraise the payroll team’s performance.
• Advise on and implement budgetary controls for payroll and manage salary adjustments computations.
• Execute payroll tax computations and prepare periodical payroll reports and filings.
• Manage the processing of W2, reconciliation and resolution of issues connected to state retirement in Maryland.
• Liaison with third-party systems and import data from related subsidiary systems.
• Review, develop queries, and analyze data from the organization’s payroll system.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll management role
• Demonstrated proficiency in full cycle payroll processes
• Experience with PeopleSoft software is a requirement
• In-house payroll management experience is essential
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
• Exceptional leadership abilities with experience managing a team
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is an asset
• Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to payroll
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
