Job Description

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we have an exciting opening for a Scientist II, Chemistry to become a part of our team. In this position, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in the development of advanced technologies in cell and gene therapy, collaborating closely with organic chemists and cell biologists.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate analytical methods using a variety of techniques such as HPLC, LC/MS, GC/MS, Fluorescence, FTIR, NMR, and UV-Visible spectroscopy.

  • Provide analytical support for existing and new product development, conducting independent and accurate research investigations.

  • Collaborate with others to implement specific analytics techniques.

  • Design and perform stability studies and other required studies to support product development.

  • Contribute to technology transfer from R&D to QC and manufacturing departments.

  • Author technical reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files.

  • Prepare and present experimental data summaries, author scientific documents for publication, and make contributions to scientific conferences.

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation.

Requirements:

  • BS with 2+ years of experience in an industrial setting or a MS (1+ years of experience) or equivalent International Degree in analytical/bioanalytical sciences.

  • Solid knowledge and experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC/MS,, Fluorescence, FTIR, and UV-Visible spectroscopy.

  • Experience in developing, optimizing, and validating analytical methods.

  • Familiarity with chemistry research lab operations and handling organic samples and solvents.

  • Previous experience with lipids, polymers, peptides, or lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) is desirable.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, molecule drawing software, and statistics software.
