Oberg Industries OD/ID Grinder in Freeport, Pennsylvania
Oberg Industries is seeking a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented OD/ID Grinder to join our team within the Metal Packaging division at our headquarters in Freeport, PA. The chosen candidate will be responsible for grinding the outside and inside diameters of parts to ensure they meet precise roundness, smoothness, and dimensional accuracy standards.
The OD/ID Grinder position offers flexibility with the option to work either a daylight or night shift, based on your preferred schedule. This role also includes paid overtime for any hours worked beyond an 8-hour shift. Apply Now and join our dynamic Oberg Team!
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual surface grinding equipment.
Operate CNC surface grinding machines with a thorough understanding of CNC operations.
Develop fixtures and create manufacturing methods for complex parts.
Inspect parts prior to grinding for any defects such as chips or cracks.
Verify workpiece dimensions to ensure alignment with blueprint specifications.
Inspect parts received from other departments for quality assurance.
Provide suggestions for process improvements.
Accurately track and record time spent on each job.
Review blueprints for accuracy and inconsistencies.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment and system issues using test equipment and previous experience.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Educational Qualifications and Specific Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Successful completion of an apprentice program or possess equivalent experience preferred.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
Must possess knowledge of algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.
Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a standing, sitting, or bent position for 10 hours/day and must be able to lift a maximum of 35 pounds with control and unassisted. The employee must be able to raise arms above shoulders and maintain dexterity for extended periods of time and also use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and be able to stoop or kneel for excessive periods of time. For extended periods of time, the employee must be capable of working by using of a magnifying devise. The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment. This position requires on-site work. Remote work options are not available.
