The ideal Medical Safety Engineer will also be engaging, have good interpersonal skills, high energy, high sense of urgency, and adept at wearing many hats in one day.What will you be doing?The Medical Safety Engineer is responsible for performing electrical testing and evaluation on a variety of products to the provisions of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients. Under the guidance of a more senior Engineer, may also conduct on and off-site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s).Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:Read and determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluatedRead and understand schematics and manufacturing instructionsValidate the project scope and sample applicabilityComplete preliminary design reviews (PDR)Develop, setup and follow established test plansPerform testing of products in accordance with standards. Core tests include, but are not limited to: rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, etc.Will develop expertise in IEC 60601Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Provide on-going support to clients as neededPerform other work as requiredWhat Qualifications Do You NeedA bachelor's degree in engineering; Electrical or Biomedical engineering degree preferredMust be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time managementAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parametersAbility to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written formatMust be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environmentPhysical dexterity to perform the clerical and technical functions which are inherent to the positionPhysical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job.
