Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

• Experienced HVAC/R Technician

• Accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision

• Make appropriate decisions in the absence of direct leadership

• Work effectively in a team as well as individually as dictated by the situation and management

• Responsible for completion to standard of assigned tasks

• Responsible for request of supplies, parts, and equipment required to accomplish assigned tasks

• Maintain accountability and fiscal responsibility for assigned parts, equipment, and supplies

• Perform normal and emergency operation of all engineering and life safety systems of the hospital

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, control, life safety, and HVAC/R equipment as part of a team

• Expected to be a subject matter expert, and provide leadership in the area of HVAC/R

• Ensure that work sites are left clean, supplies and equipment are maintained, and all assigned assets are accounted for per Engineering Department policy directives

• Make periodic inspections, noting general condition, and keeping Engineering Management informed as the needs and/or changes required to keep the hospital in a safe, well maintained condition

• Document repair and maintenance records as per Engineering Department policy and directives

• Incumbent is prepared to assume responsibilities for the Working Lead should the need arise

• Appropriately interpret and follow hospital policies and safety procedures

• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work

• Analyze and resolve work problems

• As assigned, develop Preventative Maintenance and Operational Procedures commensurate with the Scottish Rite's Policies and Procedure, manufacturer’s recommendations, safety considerations, and good engineering practices

  Required Skills/Abilities

• High school degree or equivalent required

• Two-year degree in HVAC, or related Engineering Technology preferred

• Trade School Diploma preferred

• NATE or RSES Certification required

• Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC/R

• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial/hospital HVAC/R work preferred

• Dual Duct and Pneumatic Controls experience preferred

• Emergency Generator operation experience preferred

• Chiller experience preferred

• Boiler plant operation experience preferred

• Cooling Tower experience preferred

• Project Management experience, certification, or training preferred

• Formal leadership training preferred

• Direct leadership experience preferred

• Score appropriately high on a written HVAC test administered by the Engineering Department

• Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

• Able to learn and utilize a Windows based Computerized Maintenance Management System ​
