Position Summary: The HIM Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the overall functions of the HIM Department for the delivery of a professional and comprehensive service to all our customers. Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Ensures maximum employee and departmental performance by conducting on-going analysis and providing appropriate training and developmental opportunities. Review a variety of reports on a daily basis to ensure staff are productive and to ensure any problems are resolved quickly. Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Maintains professional growth through appropriate organizations, workshops, seminars, and other self-directed education. Responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels daily and providing support to cover functions. Responsible for educating staff on HIPAA, enforcing HIPAA policies, and reporting breaches as required to HIM Director. Engage with providers to facilitate documentation completion per required rules and regulations. Monitors all functions and provides quality control for documentation requirements. Responsible for the overall security and integrity of patient medical records and documentation.

Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists withperformance evaluations and disciplinary actions.Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs.Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.Works in collaboration with other departments to ensure medical record integrity/compliance.Works with daily unbilled reports daily and follows up with providers to let them know they haveincomplete records so we do not delay final coding.Handles RAC/MAC requests by scanning and sending these requests to Parallon Denials Team and then downloading and updating comments in the eRequest application.Assists Director with employee evaluations.Monitors staff education records to meet corporate compliance requirements.Train and orient new staff to the department, policies, and processes.Communicates and works directly with physicians for chart completion.Assists HIM Director and other departments with HIM data collection and reporting requirements.Runs monthly chart delinquency rate.Maintains computerized incomplete chart deficiency system.Notifies physicians of delinquent/deficient charts per suspension policy.Notifies the Director of any charting issues associated with physician completion.Provides coverage for all tech positions when needed.Provides cross-training to all staff.Interacts positively with medical staff members by cultivating liaisons and promoting interaction.Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.Ensures maximum employee and departmental performance by conducting on-going analysis and providing appropriate training and developmental opportunities.Review a variety of reports on a daily basis to ensure staff are productive and to ensure any problems are resolved quicklyManages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. Required SkillsKnowledge of Microsoft excel and word;Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families and other contacts.
