Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Product Management Teams manage all aspects of a product, from driving new product development to manufacturing to marketing. They are responsible for overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans in order to meet sales and profit targets.

The Global Product Manager - Solar manages all aspects of the Solar Products global product line, from driving new product development to manufacturing to marketing and sales. Runs the portfolio as a “mini” GM. Responsible for overall product strategy, business leadership and capacity plans to meet sales and gross margin targets. Manages a group of Regional Product Managers and Junior Product Managers globally across (3) regions – AMS, EMEA and APAC.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Market Sensing and Strategy (25% of time)

  • Articulate market trends, demand drivers, customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape

  • Conduct market segmentation exercises to develop market segment-specific strategies.

  • Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking

  • Define segment with value propositions that beat the competition

  • Develop product roadmaps that aligns with business strategy

  • Design go to market strategy, inclusive of channel strategy and partnerships

  • Work with R&D and operations in the development of new products to meet

current and future customer requirements.

  • Manage the product lifecycle

Develop Business Plan (15% of time):

-Achieve cross-functional alignment to the plan)

  • Define resource requirements necessary to execute the product roadmap

-Work cross functionally to define sales, technology and operations strategies and goals, in line with financial goals. Build consensus on specific tasks.

  • Establish pricing policy

  • Develop the annual operating plan (Sales and gross margin)

New Product Developments and Launches (25%):

  • Be the opportunity champion for PAC projects.

  • Plans product launches, including the development of marketing and sales plans.

  • Provide demand forecast inputs to SIOP team

  • Attend customer meetings in support of winning new business

  • Exercise thought leadership with other functions.

  • Provide inputs to Marcom for the development of collateral, including e-commerce.

Execution of Post Product Launches (20%):

  • Manage the P&L (sales and gross margin) for the assigned portfolio.

  • Deliver sustained profitable growth

  • Enable sales to promote product line via training and the development of collateral materials that help articulate the value proposition.

  • Manage special pricing requests

  • Track progress to the business plan and facilitate resolution to gaps.

  • Be the champion for resolution of product issues (e.g., quality, delivery, etc.)

-Provide accurate forecasts to the SIOP team on upcoming sales

Talent Management (15%):

-Manages and develops a team of product managers

-Puts in succession plans for all levels of the solar product management team

Key Success Factors:

Meet KPI targets for the below items:

  • Sales

  • Market Share

  • Gross Margin $ and %

  • Inventory ($ and turns)

-Value Add/Value Engineering cost outs

  • Manage new product introductions on time and within budget

  • Cost reduction

  • Forecast accuracy

  • Sales of new products 1 and 3 years post launch

  • Development of talent – succession readiness

What your background should look like:

-Bachelor’s degree - technical or business degree required; and 10+ years’ experience, including 5+ years in product management or technical sales

-Advanced degree (MBA) or relevant P&L management experience, preferred

-Relevant product / industry experience in Solar

-Experience leading a team of direct reports

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $129,120 - $193,680 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
