GAP Solutions Inc Biologist (Vaccine Development) in Gaithersburg, Maryland
Position Objective: Provide services as a Biologist in support of the overall functions of the Vaccine Production Program within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop assays for virus vaccines, recombinant proteins and virus-like particles that may be used as clinical vaccine candidates.
Develop for cGMP product characterization and release quantitative assays, including ELISA, indirect ELISA, Host Cell Protein ELISA, SDS-PAGE, BCA assay, and Endotoxin; experience with Neutralization assay and Viral Titer assays; instrumentation experience with HPLC (affinity chromatography), PCR, and Flow cytometry.
Conduct or participate in projects within a specific area or field. Projects are assigned and are typically small or part of larger projects.
Make observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
Present findings at internal meetings.
Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts.
Prepare precise technical reports summaries, protocols, quantitative analyses, and maintains appropriate documentation.
Present findings at internal meetings and/or contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and patent applications.
Use and apply standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in a limited area or field.
Provide solutions to a variety of problems of diverse scope involving basic scientific principles.
Develop new methods, technologies, and processes when necessary for project advancement.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Biology or a related science field is required
At least 7 years of experience in vaccine development working including Good laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) experience is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff.
Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
