Eaton Corporation Principal Engineering IT Solution Architect in Galesburg, Michigan
Eaton’s Corporate Information Technology team is looking for a Principal Engineering IT Solution Architect. The locations for this position are our major IT hubs in the US, including Beachwood, OH, Moon Township, PA, Raleigh, NC, Menomonee Falls, WI, Galesburg, MI, or Houston, TX. Candidates must live within 50 miles of one of these locations as relocation assistance is not available for this position. 10-15% travel can be expected.

What you’ll do:
In this newly created position, you will be responsible for understanding and addressing the specific needs of the Engineering function globally. Your role involves creating secure, scalable, and efficient solutions architectures. You’ll evaluate and recommend SaaS applications, integrate them with existing systems, and provide architectures for internal application development when necessary. Additionally, you’ll participate in technical discussions, present to various stakeholders and business leaders, and ensure that all solutions align with Eaton’s strategic goals. Your work will also include offering design guidance during project execution to support both business and IT objectives.
• Design solutions that meet customer and stakeholder needs
• Create Dataflow and BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) Process mappings.
• Assure the feasibility and sustainability of designed solutions in engineering applications
• Design and evolve technical solutions that support current and future needs
• Manage nonfunctional requirements and compliance
• Define and prioritize enablers including exploration work and technical debt reduction
• Enable continuous integration and continuous delivery that enables immediate feedback and adjustment
• Maintain architectural runways for a series of products within a Value Stream
• Manage, track, evaluate technical capability across Value Stream to facilitate the selection and alignment of a technical solution following enterprise guardrails. Execute POCs where applicable.
• Responsible for ensuring design meets Eaton's standards and requirements
• Partner with other Architects to evaluate capabilities and features to expand the use of an existing application to meet additional business requirements.
• Build ArchiMate diagrams to depict architectures.
• Assist the product teams with completing annual architecture maturity assessments
• Collaborate and drive synergies between enterprise architect, system architect, and product owners.
• Partner with cyber security on architecture guidelines for specific types of disaster recovery
• Work closely with product owners to develop and align their roadmaps, ensuring that the sequencing of end-to-end rollouts are logical and efficient.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in the software industry with a proven track record of high quality results
• Experience working with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban.
• In depth knowledge of the Engineering capability is required. This includes (but is not limited to): Product software design and development, Product design and development, R&D strategy and planning, Intellectual Property and Management.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Extensive experience utilizing best practices in software engineering
• Extensive experience with product Lifecycle management (PLM) technologies and Enovia preferred
• Extensive experience developing secure, enterprise grade, highly scalable, highly performant applications and/or distributed systems
• Expert level understanding of software design principles, design patterns, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading concepts
• Solid understanding of DevSecOps, CI, and CD principles from code check-in through to deployment
• Extensive experience with modern software development principles including code management, test automation, APIs, microservices, and cloud services.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity concepts such as encryption, hashing, certificates, PKIs, Threat Modeling, secure coding, and OWASP.
• Good knowledge of upstream and downstream processes is a plus including but not limited to: manufacturing, procurement, quoting, and invoicing.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain and present concepts to all levels within the organizations
• Comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical audiences

• Patience and empathy when working with architects, developers, and testers
• Experience working with diverse, global cultures, organizations and teams
• Proven ability to work in a self-directed manner

The expected annual salary range for this role is $136500.03 - $200200.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
