Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience; An equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the role may be considered for this position.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the development of systems and strategies needed to optimize major gift prospect moves management. Help increase the number of major gifts by strategically prioritizing major gift prospect assignments. Primarily responsible for new prospect identification and reactive research requests. The position collects historical gift and biographical information on alumni, donors, and prospects. A successful candidate will maintain ongoing communication with fundraising staff and develop working relationships with frontline fundraisers, understanding their priorities, managing research requests and proactively bringing new prospects to their attention.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in donor research,

  • Experience in donor database systems, preferably Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge,

  • Five years in role-creating and enhancing processes and procedures

Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement a clear strategy for UTMB prospect management efforts:

  • Using statistical analysis of the development database, develop indicators, benchmarks, milestones, and reports that inform decision-making and support fundraising performance.

  • Make recommendations to build and update major gift portfolios based on prospect management strategies.

  • Periodically review assigned and unassigned prospect base to assess the potential value of UTMB’s development pipeline.

  • In collaboration with colleagues, manages the prospect assignment process to maximize the performance of development officers and the prospect pool.

  • Proactively and independently plan and execute strategies to identify sources of major gift private support using creative research techniques and electronic searching methodologies.

  • Provide high-level research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of biographical, organizational, and financial sources, including state-of-the-art online database services, library and government sources, and other external repositories of public information.

  • Compose documents (profiles, biographies, thumbnail reports) using style, grammar, and content appropriate to specific audiences. Interpret and translate complex financial, legal, and corporate language into easily comprehensible terms while adhering to University standards of discretion and confidentiality.

  • Develops policies and procedures based on best practices in portfolio management.

  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

  • Performs related duties as required.

Salary Range:

Actual salary commensurate with experience.

Work Schedule:

Partial Remote, onsite as needed. Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and as needed on occasion.
