Saint-Gobain Sr. Quality Engineer in GARDEN GROVE, California

The Sr. Quality Engineer will support the Operation with focus on the Seals business to ensure that the Quality Management System and quality standards of the company are implemented and maintained at the SG Garden Grove, CA facility in accordance with corporate quality policies, applicable regulatory requirements, QMS/AS-9100 requirements, and customer specifications/expectations to ensure manufactured products meet internal and customer expectations.

Specific duties will encompass the following:

Lead and/or support the development, implementation, and oversight of an effective Quality Management System that operates in compliance with corporate quality policies and procedures, and relevant regulatory requirements and industry guidance, including:

  • Document control and review/approval of controlled documents

  • Change management and review of change controls

  • Investigation and CAPA management, including robust, disciplined root cause analysis

  • Complaint management and performance of complaint investigations

  • Supplier quality management and performance of supplier audits as appropriate

  • Internal audit program and performance of internal audits

  • Training and development; conduct training and assessment of training effectiveness of direct reports

  • Implementation of Quality Risk Management in relevant aspects of the QMS

  • Management Review

  • QMS/AS-9100 certification and maintenance

When applicable , supervise, lead, monitor performance of direct reports to ensure effective, efficient and timely inspection, testing, reporting is achieved to support all aspects of the Quality function including receiving inspection, in-process/final inspection/testing, complaint/RG inspection/testing/investigation. This includes development and implementation of effective training and development programs, daily work-load scheduling and time management, including overtime authorization.

Lead and/or support the oversight of product realization and commercial manufacturing activities, such as product/specification development, technology transfer, validation, process capability assessment, facilities/utilities/equipment qualification/validation and maintenance, and materials management associated with job scope, including preparations and/or support for PPAP/FAI documentation (PFMEA, Control Plans, Gauge R&R, Statistical Process Capability Studies, dimensional layouts).

Oversee and coordinate the testing, auditing, review, and disposition process for production batches and incoming raw materials, including management of deviations and nonconforming product.

Customer support, including:

  • Support customer audits, including response and corrective action tracking

  • Partner in the resolution of quality issues and customer requests by initiating effective interdepartmental communication.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree- Engineering or Technical discipline (Required)

  • Master’s Degree- Engineering, Technical Discipline, Quality Assurance (Preferred)

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years Regulated manufacturing industry- Aerospace (preferred)

  • 3 years Quality role (Quality System development, implementation, and/or execution) within a manufacturing environment - Required

  • 1 year minimum (3 years minimum preferred) - Supervision of hourly/non-exempt Quality inspection/testing staff within a job-shop manufacturing environments Preferred

Practical/Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of ISO/AS requirements and relevant industry standard practices is required.- Demonstrated ability to interpret and execute these expectations to ensure proper implementation in the plant Quality systems.---------

  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems and problem-solving and analysis tools e.g., SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, DOE, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings (GD&T, etc.)----

  • Strong communication/presentation skills – verbal and written

  • Experience in conducting Quality System/Process Audits (AS-9100 experience preferred)

  • Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PPT, and Project; Minitab

  • Problems solving, organizational, interpersonal and team building skills-

Licenses and Certifications

  • ASQ certifications (e.g. CQE, CQM, CQA) 3 years Preferred -

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $87,500 to $135,500 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $98,000 to $151,760 . Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
