DETAILS:

  • Lighthouse Academies of Northwest Indiana is an established network of 4 schools striving to make positive changes in public education in Northwest Indiana.

  • We are currently collecting resumes for candidates interested in Paraprofessional opportunities.

  • Paraprofessional work both in and outside the classroom with small groups or individual students to facilitate learning and understanding.

  • This is a great position for aspiring teachers to begin their career!

    Our Paraprofessionals must meet criteria to be "highly-qualified by the Indiana DOE.

You qualify if you meet one of the following:

  • Two years of college experience

  •  A two-year college degree

  •  Passed the Para-Pro Assessment (within the first year of employment)

  •  One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment experience in a school or working with children

  •  Passed annual school-level evaluations

  •  Completed 48 credit hours of college level classes

  •  Child Development Associate (CDA) Credentials

  •  Completed LEA required professional development modules/training

  •  Completed Other Requirements – LEAs may request approval from IDOE

Skills & Requirements

EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree preferred

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS:

  • Two (2) years prior experience in a school setting preferred

  • Strong desire to work within an innovative, urban educational program

  • Ability to use data to inform instruction and decision-making related to student achievement

  • Ability to turn best practices into high quality, goal-driven results

  • Highly effective writing, oral and interpersonal skills to communicate with a varied audience

  • Data management tools, organizational tools, computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
