County of Gaston Assistant Director Tax List/Appraisals in Gastonia, North Carolina
The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
- Assist the Tax Director in the direction of department operations: Coordinates interactive work, monitors and audits work among Collections and Business/Personal Property Listing Divisions.
- Resolve policy and deadline conflicts among divisions.
- Complies reports of assessed valuations for Cities, Counties, State, Department of Revenue, and requests by the public.
- Determine the valuation basis for County and municipality tax rate determination and complies reports of assessed valuations and tax levy information and presenting the information to the public, Cities, Counties, State, and Department of Revenue.
- Analyze office procedures for effectiveness. Analyze tax data for accuracy. Suggest improvements to automated systems for increased performance and efficiency.
- To ensure all appeals are worked in all 3 levels.
- Attend public speaking engagements on tax related matters.
- Acts on behalf of the Tax Director in his or her absence to include assisting with staffing decisions and addressing concerns of the public, media, and County Officials.
- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
*Minimum Qualifications: *
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Accounting or related field with four (4) to five (5) years of experience in the listing and appraisal of residential, commercial, and/or industrial properties, at least two (2) years of which must have been at the supervisory level; or,
- IAAO designation with a minimum of 10 years experience in the listing and appraisal of residential, commercial, and/or industrial properties, at least two (2) years of which must have been at the supervisory level.
- Equivalent education and experience may also be considered.
